Bio
Brazilian-born Matheus Poli is a self-taught and extremely versatile musician who was inspired from an early age by the music of J.S. Bach and Heitor Villa-Lobos, as well as the compositions and performances of John McLaughlin, Al di Meola, Tom Jobim, Djavan and Milton Nascimento. As a professional guitar player in Los Angeles, Matheus has appeared on stage with Nestor Torres at the World Peace Culture Center in Santa Monica; performed with the Korean fusion band, Yerak, for the visiting president of South Korea; collaborated in a TEDTalks presentation at UCLA; was featured with Korean performing group, Haemil, on Television Korea; and played in venues including the Ford Amphitheater, Levitt Pavilion, and the Mark Taper Auditorium and Catalina Jazz Club, where he fronted an eclectic, international 8-piece band performing his own compositions.Matheus has written, performed and engineered two self-produced albums including Antimatter World in 2009, and To Thyself Be True in 2011. As an aspiring Film and TV composer, has composed music to 2015 Emmy winner PSA, he has provided original music synced to picture for ESPN (2009 World Golf Club Championship), OneMilwaukee.org (anti-gun violence campaign), Midas Mount Camera Systems (promotional video).With a passion for creating emotion through music, and the ability to incorporate and synthesize a myriad of cultural influences, Matheus uses his creativity, determination, and technical skills to create music that tells a story.
